Dental veneers in Sharjah
For front teeth that are chipped, stained, gapped or the wrong shape.
A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth. It changes the shape, the shade and the alignment of what people actually see when you talk and smile.
They work well for teeth that are discoloured beyond what whitening can fix, chipped at the edge, slightly crowded, or uneven in size. They are cosmetic — the tooth underneath still needs to be healthy.
We will tell you honestly if whitening or a simple filling would get you most of the result for a fraction of the cost. Sometimes it will.
When you need it
- Front teeth that are stained in a way whitening will not shift
- A chipped or worn edge on a front tooth
- Small gaps between the front teeth
- Teeth that are slightly uneven in shape or length
- Old front fillings that have discoloured at the edges
What happens at the appointment
Working out whether you actually need them
This conversation comes first. A great many people who ask for veneers want whitening, or a single filling repair, at a fraction of the cost. We will say so.
Planning the look
Shape, length and shade agreed with you before anything is touched. What you are buying is an appearance, so you should sign off on the appearance.
Preparation and impression
A thin layer is removed from the front of the tooth — how thin depends on the type of veneer — and an impression taken.
Fitting and bonding
Tried in first so you can see them in a mirror in daylight and say yes or no. Only then are they bonded.
Afterwards
Veneers are strong in normal use but they are not indestructible. No opening packaging with your front teeth, no biting fingernails, no ice.
If you grind your teeth at night, tell us. A night guard protects the investment, and grinding is the most common way veneers get broken.
Worth knowing
Veneers versus whitening
Whitening changes shade only, and it is reversible in the sense that nothing is removed from the tooth. Veneers are permanent, because a layer of enamel comes off to make room for them, and they change shape, colour, length and small gaps together. Veneers are also priced per tooth, so six of them is six times the number. If shade is the only thing bothering you, whiten — we would far rather tell you that than sell you a set of veneers you did not need.
A word about the Hollywood smile
You can have very white, very uniform front teeth if that is what you want. You can also have teeth that simply look like better versions of your own. We will make either, but we will ask which one you actually want before starting, because one of them is much harder to undo.
Common questions
Veneers or whitening?
If your teeth are the right shape and only the colour bothers you, whitening is cheaper and less invasive. Veneers are for shape as well as shade.
How many teeth do I need done?
However many show when you smile — commonly the front four, six or eight. We will show you in the mirror.
Are they permanent?
The preparation of the tooth is. Veneers themselves are replaced eventually, like any restoration.
How long do veneers last?
Ten years or more with reasonable care. Chips can usually be repaired or the single veneer replaced.
Do I have to do all my front teeth?
No. Sometimes one veneer on one damaged tooth is the entire answer.
Will they stain?
Ceramic veneers resist staining better than natural enamel. The natural teeth around them can still darken over the years, which is worth knowing before you choose a very light shade.
Not sure what you need?
Just ask.
