Pediatric dental treatments in Sharjah
Gentle, unhurried dentistry for children, from a first check-up to saving a baby tooth that is causing pain.
Children are not small adults, and neither are their teeth. Baby teeth have thinner enamel and larger nerves, so decay reaches the nerve faster than it does in an adult tooth.
Baby teeth matter more than they look. They let children chew and speak properly, and they hold the space the adult teeth need. Lose one too early and the adult teeth can come in crooked or crowded.
So when a baby tooth is in trouble we try to save it first, and we explain everything to you and to your child before we begin.
What we treat
Pulpotomy
When decay reaches the nerve in the crown of a baby tooth, we remove only the infected part of the nerve, treat what is left so it stays healthy, and seal the tooth. The tooth stays in place and keeps doing its job until it is ready to fall out on its own.
Pulpectomy
When the infection has gone further, down into the roots, the whole nerve is removed, the canals are cleaned and filled with a material the body can absorb, and the tooth is sealed. It is the baby-tooth version of a root canal, and it saves a tooth that would otherwise have to come out.
Tooth restoration and fluoride application
Small cavities are repaired with tooth-coloured fillings before they grow. Fluoride varnish, painted on in a minute, strengthens the enamel and helps stop early decay from turning into a cavity at all.
Stainless steel crowns
A baby back tooth with a large cavity, or one that has had nerve treatment, often has too little left to hold a filling. A pre-formed stainless steel crown covers the whole tooth and protects it until the adult tooth comes through underneath.
Tooth extraction
When a tooth cannot be saved, or a baby tooth is in the way of the adult tooth coming through, we take it out gently and explain to you, and your child, what will happen first.
Removable appliances
Simple removable plates that a child can take out to clean, used to guide teeth or correct early bite problems while the jaw is still growing.
Space maintainers
A baby tooth lost early leaves a gap the neighbouring teeth drift into, which can block the adult tooth. A space maintainer holds the gap open until the adult tooth is ready to come in.
Dental emergency care
Dental trauma, fractured teeth, and sudden pain or swelling. Call or WhatsApp us and say it is an emergency for a child: we fit children in the same day wherever we can.
Sports dentistry
Custom mouthguards fitted for children playing high-contact sports. Made from a mould of your child’s teeth, so it fits properly, stays in place and gets worn.
Common questions
Why treat a baby tooth that will fall out anyway?
Back baby teeth stay until around age 10 to 12. An infected baby tooth hurts, can spread infection, and if it is lost early the adult tooth may not have room to come in.
When should my child first see a dentist?
Around their first birthday, or when the first tooth appears. An early, easy visit means the dentist is a familiar place before anything ever needs treating.
My child has knocked out a tooth. What do I do?
If it is an adult tooth, hold it by the crown, not the root, rinse it briefly, and either put it back in the socket or keep it in milk, and come in straight away. Do not put a baby tooth back. Either way, call us.
Will my child need to be numbed?
For fillings, nerve treatment and extractions, yes. The area is numbed first so the treatment itself does not hurt, and we explain each step to your child before we do it.
Not sure what you need?
Just ask.
Message us on WhatsApp with what is bothering you. We will tell you what it is likely to be and what it will cost — before you come in.
